Recently it has been found that the practice of 'mixing Licence Types' (that is Cadet, Junior and Senior) has been occurring in private usage of Karting Australia (KA) Licenced Race Tracks.

This creates a potential safety issue and must not occur.

It is very clearly covered in the Rules for Competition - see Competition Rules; Chapter 1 Rule 9. The intent of the rule is to provide a safe driving environment for drivers of varying ages (whose motor skills and cognitive awareness are different dependent upon various factors but most particularly age.)

The spirit and intent of this rule it directly transferrable to all on-track activities conducted at all KA Licensed Race Tracks.

MIXING OF LICENCE LEVELS ON THE RACE TRACK IS NOT TO OCCUR AT ANY TIME. You will not be covered by KA's insurance and you will be creating unnecessary and avoidable risks.

For the Avoidance of Doubt The Following Applies:

  1. To drive a kart on a KA licensed Race Track you MUST hold a KA issued Licence or a Licence recognised by KA (a Licence issued by another ASN that has been approved by KA.)

  2. Licence holders are only permitted to drive a kart in the Class for which their Licence is endorsed (e.g. A Cadet 12 driver is not permitted to drive a kart eligible for use by a Junior Licence holder. A Junior Licence holder is not permitted to drive a kart eligible for use by a Senior Licence holder, a D Grade Senior Licence holder is not permitted to drive TaG125 kart etc.)

  3. Cadet Licence holders are not permitted to be on the Race Track at the same time as Junior or Senior Licence holders.

  4. Junior Licence holders are not permitted to be on the Race Track at the same time as Cadet or Senior Licence holders.

  5. Senior Licence holders are not permitted to be on the Race Track at the same time as Cadet or Junior Licence holders.

When any person is driving a Kart on the circuit it is compulsory to wear approved protective clothing and gear, which includes approved helmet for karting with full visor, earplugs, driving suit, gloves and footwear which covers and protects the driver's ankles, and have a current KA Kart Racing Licence.
